Our Story

Hi, I'm Tenzin, the founder of Foot Buddy. I live in the Bay Area, California, with my wife and daughter. I started the company out of necessity for my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter at the time.

The concept for Foot Buddy began in 2020, based on my experience with my daughter. At two-and-a-half years old, I clipped her toenails only to notice calluses and hammering on her toes. The shoes were undoubtedly the culprit. I began shopping around, and even bought her shoes that were one to two sizes bigger, only to find unsuitable footwear that were not designed for children's feet. I found some barefoot shoes, but they were far too expensive, knowing that she would outgrow them in just two to three months.

Why make a significant investment when your children grow out of them quickly anyway? So, I decided to design her shoes with an approach more adapted to the needs of a toddler.

Thus, Foot Buddy's First Collection - BOLD - was born: a shoe that is:

• Wide enough for her foot to preserve a natural shape.
• Flexible enough to allow natural movement of the foot.
• Breathable enough to circulate air in and out of the shoes by using cotton.
• The sole is thin enough at 7mm to feel connected to the ground yet provide protection.
• Most importantly, affordable enough to be accessible to every parent.
